Why BHC School of Design

  1. All Lecturers are practicing designers & architects, thereby keeping students abreast of all the new trends & technological updates.
  2. Studio masters are on site to assist students when necessary.
  3. BHC is situated in The Old Biscuit Mill, Woodstock, an area that is rapidly becoming the hub of the Design Industry. Located within walking distance of the station & direct taxi routes, accessibility for student is simple.
  4. A key focus of BHC is to prepare & equip the graduates for a career in the professional world with the skills, knowledge & attention to detail necessary to be successful in a design discipline.
  5. Projects are orientated towards a portfolio of professional standards, covering all aspects of design - domestic, retail, commercial & leisure environments.
  6. BHC boasts an impressive portfolio of graduates who have been employed in many of the top Design Companies in Cape Town , around the country as well as abroad.
  7. Being a private college, BHC accepts a limited intake of students thereby ensuring individual attention is given across the board.

Introduction

In 1983 BHC School of design was established under the umbrella of, and affiliated to, Boston House College.  It was purchased in 1996 as an independent company by Heidi Jager, and currently operates as a private provider of education, under the registered name of BHC School of Design (Pty) Ltd.

BHC Mission Statement

To provide excellent education that enhances our creative environment and promotes entrepreneurship by supporting, guiding and producing highly competent interior design professionals.

Objectives

  • To become the most progressive design school in the country by producing learners of the highest standard and competency, using the most up to date and innovative syllabus and technology.
  • To produce the calibre of learners who will be highly employable, sought after, an asset to the industry, a credit to BHC School of Design (Pty) Ltd and who will make a contribution to the South African industry of interior design.
  • To redress the learner and qualified worker imbalance in the design industry among various cultural groups.

BHC School of Design aims to:

  • Educate graduates with all the necessary knowledge to become an asset to the industry.
  • Equip learners with a professional portfolio with which to launch their careers.
  • Assist in securing employment for learners upon graduation.
  • Allow learners the opportunity to work on actual projects and competitions.
  • Maintain the highest levels of professionalism within the design industry, by generating a pool of exceptionally talented and trained learners.

3 Year Full-Time Programme:
  • Diploma: Interior Design

Short Courses:

  • Interior Decorating: Saturday mornings from 09h00 t0 13h00 (12 classes)
  • 2D Auto CAD: Saturday mornings from 09h00 t0 13h00 (6 classes)
  • 3D Auto CAD: Saturday mornings from 09h00 t0 13h00 (6 classes)
  • PhotoShop CS: Wednesday evenings from 17h30 t0 20h00 (6 classes)
  • Presentation Drawing: Wednesday evenings from 17h30 t0 20h00 (6 classes)
  • Sketch-up 17h30 - 20h00(6 classes)

Full-time course commencing early February.
